Part French, part Spanish and part Mediterranean it's no wonder Catalan cuisine is so lip-smackingly good - and no wonder the city's residents dedicate so much time and money on food and eating out. Barcelona is a magnet for foodies thanks to the excellent quality of restaurants it has to offer and the profusion of Michelin-starred chefs plying their trade in this neck of the woods. There's a lot to be said for finding a cosy Catalan restaurant and trying local dishes like escudella and ollada (two tasty stews) as well as Catalan-style cod, best enjoyed with a sea breeze at the high-end joints around Port Olimpic. Spanish-style tapas bars are also in abundance, and you can also find Galician, Basque and Castilian cuisine on offer. Otherwise Barcelona has plenty of international restaurants to try out, from upmarket haunts like Noti, or the multitude of ethnic options in Raval and Gracia. Meanwhile Els Quatre Gats is the locale where Picasso first exhibited his artwork and a little further up the Costa Brava lies El Bulli - recently voted the best restaurant in the entire world for the umpteenth time.

Restaurante Pizza Smilo reviewed by Gio from United States on Feb.01.2012 | "Great authentic pizza place just nearby some of Gaudi's amazing works. After traveling in Europe for some time I've generally been disappointed with the standard of pizzas compared to the US - and some of the worst ones I had were even in Italy!!! But here they use a proper wood-fired oven ad the base is just the perfect thickness and the toppings are fresh and tasty. Definitely recommend to pizzalovers." |
