Where to Watch the World Cup 2022


The Fifa-backed festival of football is upon us again, albeit at a time of year we’ve never experienced before. If you haven’t manage to snag flights and tickets to any of the games in Qatar, no worries you’ll be able to catch all the World Cup 2022 action without spending a riyal (other than on beers of course) at one of Barcelona’s excellent sports bars and Irish pubs instead.

The tournament kicks off on the 20th November with Qatar vs. Ecuador at 5pm Spanish time at Al Bayt Stadium, and carries on until the 18th December with the final at the Lusail stadium.

Here are some places in Barcelona where you can watch all the matches…

1. The Old Irish Pub

Right on Las Ramblas, sports bars don’t get much more handily located than the Old Irish Pub which sits smack bang in the middle of this world-famous thoroughfare. This international bar has become a favourite for locals and travellers alike to catch live sports on TV. With three huge projectors, 10+ plus flat screen TVs and English language commentary, they will be screening all 64 matches from Qatar. Plus every day you’ll find a kitchen serving up their famous burgers, stonebaked pizzas and other bar snacks until late at night.

3. Flaherty’s Irish Pub

This Irish bastion of booze boasts four projectors and four more high definitions TV screens and will be showing every game of the 2022 World Cup throughout summer. With a stellar location, just off Las Ramblas, you can guarantee a lively atmosphere for every big match, and they are also known for their generous drinks promos. A fabulous street terrace means you can chill outside between games.

4. Wild Rover

Another fantastic Irish bar right by Las Ramblas, Wild Rover is serious about sport. They’ll be screening every single match of the tournament (on two projectors and six TVs), all with English commentary (except for Spain matches). A total of 16 beers on tap and Black Angus beef burgers make the perfect side dish to a celebration of the beautiful game. 5. CocoVail Beer Hall

Another top class venue showing every single match, this time on six flat screen TVs with surround sound is CocoVail Beer Hall.
