Barcelona Jobs & Careers

Spain has been one of the countries worst hit by the economic crisis of recent years, and whilst Barcelona remains one of the most dynamic cities in the country it hasn't escaped unscathed. Unemployment is high, and many folk are unsatisfied with the government's cutbacks and austerity measures. Many of the job losses have occurred in the public sectors of health and education.

From an outsiders perspective the situation is not so bleak. Tourists are still flocking to Barcelona and Spain in their millions, creating a potential source of income for those able to tap into the market, and in fact many small businesses - often set up by entrepreneurial foreigners/expats - have started up and prospered even in these tough economic times. The message right now is that if you're looking for work in Barcelona you're likely to have much more success as a go-getting business(wo)man than a salary (wo)man.
