Deep Sea Fishing

Catch and eat your lunch on the Mediterranean sea

Do battle with the marine life of the Mediterranean in this Barcelona deep sea fishing experience, that pits you in a fair fight with some of the fastest fins in the West.

You’ll charter a skippered boat for the day from a nearby marina, and sail out into deep waters several nautical miles from the coast, before weighing anchor and casting your hook out to sea. With some expert guidance you’ve got a genuine chance of reeling in garfish, hake, sea bass and even big game like tuna (for the latter we suggest you choose charter Boat 1 for the full 9 hours). And if you don’t get lucky you can always practice those fishermen’s tales on the way back to Barcelona!

With some expert guidance you’ve got a genuine chance of reeling in garfish, hake, sea bass and even big game like tuna…

Overall the activity offers a fantastic day out full of camaraderie, Spanish sunshine, the majesty of the ocean, cold beers and the chance to spot whales, dolphins and turtles swimming in the surf – and one of the highlights will be cooking the fish you catch afterwards at a local Catalan restaurant.

A good day’s fishing on the Ramfel boat!

The experience is suitable for both novices and expert fishers, and the price includes licenses, rods, live bait and all the equipment you need for trolling, ground-fishing, spinning and chumming (four different techniques you might try), plus of course your boat hire and captain. Speaking of your captain, you’re in luck because you’ll be fishing with a local tournament champion!

Check below more info on the boats on offer and the prices. We’re confident these are the best value angling experiences on offer on the Costa Brava. The activity is available virtually year-round thanks to the great local weather, and the captains speaks English and Spanish (and one or two other languages). In all cases, simply email us on info@barcelona-life.com to book or to request more info.

Boat 1: The Ramfel

Capacity: 1 to 6 passengers.
Port: Port Balis, St Andreu de Llavaneres
The best value-for-money boat out there, the Ramfel fits 6 anglers in total, plus skipper and deckhand. With powerful engines reaching up to 25 knots, you will able to go up to 25 miles off coast and hunt for big game like swordfish and tuna. You can get to the coastal town of St Andreu de Llavaneres easily by train from Barcelona. It takes about 45 mins from Plaça Catalunya train station, and trains leave frequently (plus you’ll enjoy coastal views all along the way!). The price of the charter depends on how many hours you want to be at sea for. The longer the trip you book, the bigger fish you can catch. There’s also the opportunity to have your fish cooked for you at a local restaurant, once you’re back on shore. Your captain is a decorated, tournament-winning fisherman, so you’ll be in the best possible hands!

Cost (4-6 miles / 4 hours): €650
Cost (up to 12 miles / 5 hours ): €850
Cost (up to 25 miles / 7 hours): €1200

Boat 2: The Ramfel 2

Capacity: 1 to 6 passengers.
Port: Port Balis, St Andreu de Llavaneres
Every hit deserves a sequel, and the Ramfel 2 offers the same modern high quality fishing experience as the original Ramfel, on a beautiful 10 metre boat.

Boat 3: La Marinada

Capacity: Up to 16 passengers.
Port: Arenys de Mar
This is a golondrina-style longboat for coastal fishing only, but perfect for both hen and stag groups thanks to its large size. Up to ten can fish at one time, whilst the rest can have a beer or a swim. For a taste of angling in a fun environment, on a very affordable boat, look no further. You will need to leave a little extra time to get to Arenys de Mar (50 mins by train), but you can make a day trip out of it, by lunching at a local beach-bar style restaurant, where you can actually cook and eat the fish you caught.

Cost (4 hours): €700

We had a wonderful experience and we can truly recommend this adventure to any one who loves the sea and fishing. We also had our fish cooked at a nearby restaurant afterwards, which was nice.
