Piscina Municipal de Montjuic

Olympic outdoor pool with views over the city

Remember that Kylie Minogue video for Slow? Yep, it was filmed right here at Barcelona’s Piscina Municipal de Montjuic. And whilst the pool famously hosted the diving events of the 1992 Summer Olympic Games, it was actually built back in 1929 for the Universal Fair, and then refurbished in 1955 and in the early 1990s.

With stunning views over the city, including the distinctive forms of Tibidabo, La Sagrada Familia basilica and the Torre Agbar, Barcelona’s Olympic swimming pool is one of the most dramatic locations to escape the oppressive Spanish sunshine during summer.

The entry price is pretty reasonable at €7.26 (€5.03 for 6-14 yrs old, free for 5 yr-olds and under). Bear in mind the facility is only open from the start of July to the first week of September, during which time the opening hours are 11am to 6:30pm.

You can get there by taking the funicular train connection from Parallel metro station, which drops you off right beside the pool. You can ride the funicular with your T-Casual travel card.
