100% beef burgers, and the best brunch in BCN
Just five minutes from Las Ramblas, in the resurgent district of Raval, lies this sumptuously decorated bar/restaurant, a former furniture store converted into one of the city’s hippest hang outs. Through a pair of dark curtains, adorned with improbably-sized butterflies, you’ll find Marmalade’s dining salon where jet-black chandeliers, copper-plated walls and giant lampshades evoke a London members’ club vibe.
The food menu consists of international classics done to perfection, with a touch of creative flair. Top examples include the homemade confit duck croquettes, Bourbon pulled pork sandwich, barbecue spare ribs served with home-cut french fries, and a range of 100% beef burgers made with meat supplied by a Boqueria butcher and buns fresh from the local bakers.
As well as serving up dinner every day from 7pm to midnight, you can swing by Fridays to Sundays between 10am and 4:30pm for Marmalade’s legendary recovery brunch: traditional fry ups, eggs Benedict, tortilla ranchero (Mexican omelette with chorizo and creme fresh) and crumpets topped with oven-roasted ham, anchovy butter, duck egg and truffle oil will certainly sort out your hangover.
As of recently, the venue also boasts a nice little street terrace open until midnight every day of the week.
Finally, if you liked this place, be sure to check out the owners’ new venue, Gigi Von Tapas, up by the Monumental Bullfighting Arena.
