Le Pop Cocktail Bar
Putting the fizz in the cocktail scene
Le Pop Cocktail Bar, located on the world-famous La Rambla, is currently putting some of the fizz of the swinging 60s and 70s back into the art of after work drinks in Barcelona.
Award-winning mixologist Juan Jose has compiled the bar’s “Sparkling Menu”, a mouthwatering compendium of effervescent treats like the Catalan Bellini (made with locally produced Gin Mare and sparkling Cava wine) and the bitter Triple Orange gin’n’tonic, along with reworked classics such as the Smoked Margerita or the Mojiterranean, plus some innovative offerings by other Barcelona bartenders, like Cat Food by Marc Alvarez, a tequila based cocktail served in a tin can (one for Instagram to be sure!).
Once you’ve ordered your drink you can settle in one of Le Pop Cocktail Bar’s swivel leather armchairs and watch the world passing by outside, or simply soak up the interior’s chilled ambience. The downtempo soundtrack of French pop, Bossanova and mid-century jazz is curated by none other than Nouvelle Vague and is perfectly pitched for unwinding with good conversation, whilst graffiti-style portraits of Jane Fonda as Barbarella and Catalan artist Antoni Tápies by Bálu, pay homage to Le Pop’s vintage theme and Barcelona’s artistic legacy respectively.
Regular events, such as Wednesday’s after work aperitifs, Fridays fruit cocktail nights and Champagne Sundays keep the atmosphere fresh. Check their website for an up-to-date list of what’s going on. Or for more cocktail lounges head check our guide.
