Hosting Events in Barcelona

Venues for every occasion

By Duncan Rhodes Barcelona Life

Whatever event you’re planning in Barcelona, there’s a perfect venue for your needs. We look at some of those available for hire (or in some cases for free!).

Whatever the occasion, be it a landmark birthday (18th, 21st, 30th, 40th or hell even your 80th!), a corporate event, your best friend’s stag do or hen party, or even your wedding day, there are few better places to celebrate than Barcelona. This iconic city on the sea truly has it all, from great weather and golden beaches, to Michelin-starred restaurants and epic nightlife and of course some of the best looking buildings around – many courtesy of Antoni Gaudi himself.

Outside the city there’s even more on offer, from the vineyards of the Penedes region, to the alpine beauty of the Pyrenees (a popular skiing destination if you’re here in winter!).

So you’ve established the backdrop of your celebration, but now you need to find a suitable venue to host all your guests, and keep them all fed, watered (/wined!) and entertained. We’ve been happy to undertake some of the legwork for you (feel free to shout us a cerveza when you get here!) and compiled this list of awesome venues happy to help host your wedding reception, birthday party, corporate event, company Christmas dinner, school reunion, or tiddlywink world championship.

You name it, they’ve got the space, and may even be able to help you in planning the catering, music, entertainment… and X factor!

Venues for Hire

La Casa de la Seda

For something suave and formal, right in the centre of the city, Barcelona’s House of Silk ticks all the right boxes. This lavish guild house, harking back to the 1700s, is not usually open to the public (just on Saturday mornings for a guided tour), but it does open its doors for private events, such as wedding receptions, galas, fashion shows, press conferences and business meetings. With a total of six spaces, decorated with silk-lined walls, period furniture and Baroque styling (think cherubs and chandeliers), they offer a lot of flexibility and possibilities for your do. The house is always rented on an exclusive basis, with no other events at the same time. Follow the link above for more details, map, video and their website.

Dinamo Barcelona

This chic venue in Born functions primarily as a language academy, but you can also rent its minimalist urban spaces for presentations, workshops, wine tastings, or whatever else you are planning on running. Think of it as a creative hub in the barrio, if you will. Click the link above for map and contact details.

Bars, Pubs & Clubs for Hire

Here are some bars, pubs and clubs with private spaces or function rooms for hire. All of these will be happy to help you organise a special occasion.

Slow Barcelona

A stylish cocktail bar edging towards the posh side of Barcelona, Slow has two fantastic upstairs rooms available for hire during the week, whilst the smaller “Candy Box” room is also available at weekends if you’re celebrating a birthday etc.. As well as providing a sexy space for your soiree, they can also help organise cocktail tastings and workshops, catering, live music and DJs if required. The have a dedicated website about their event organising possibilities which you can check out below. It’s in Spanish, but they speak fluent English if you want to email them on info@slowbarcelona.es.

Shenanigans Pub

This friendly Irish pub in the Raval district, just a minute’s walk from Las Ramblas, is one of the best places in town to hold a meet up, whether it be for a language exchange or photography group meeting that you are organising, or more simply a birthday bash or other celebration. They have a large room at the back with TVs (in case you want to meet for a particular sports game), fusball and pool tables, and a great selection of beers and other drinks – naturally they specialise in Guinness and whisky but you can also find artisan beers and your favourite cocktail. If you are bringing a large group you can even ask nicely and they are likely to offer you a discount on certain drinks.

Ice Barcelona

If you’re looking for an original venue to host your event in the Catalan capital… you’ve just found it. The city’s famous Ice Bar has a lounge where temperatures are maintained at around minus 5 degrees celsius and everything is decorated entirely in ice – even the glasses are frozen water. For something to surprise and entertain this makes it the perfect place to surprise and entertain during company meetings, product presentations, team building activities or other corporate functions. The venue also has a terrace right on the beach at the Port Olimpic which holds up to 80 people, with professional cocktail waiters, so you can continue your event at normal temperatures. Click on the link above for more info.

Marmalade

One of the city’s swankiest lounge bars, Marmalade is a gorgeous space for entertaining guests, and has two “wings” either side of the main bar, which are perfect for cordoning off for your own private party – in fact up to 250 people can be accommodated. The venue is also famous for its food, so if yours is a sophisticated soiree that also requires some delicious victuals then put Marmalade on your shortlist! Click on the link for contact details etc.

Flaherty’s Pub

Barcelona’s favourite Irish bar has several spaces where you can host a fantastic private party, whether you’re a small or large group. From dinners to hen dos and bachelor parties, or even your own private Xbox tournaments or game night, they can accommodate a diverse range of needs… whilst of course making their excellent range of beers, cocktails and delicious pub grub available. Click on the link above to access their email, tel number and website etc.

Milk Bistro & Bar

Marmalade’s little sister, Milk, is a cute cocktail bar in the Gothic Quarter, and perhaps the most appropriate place for a private party of friends or a birthday celebration. They can either reserve you a section of the bar, or on some nights you will be able to give you exclusive access to the whole venue.
