Barcelona Hen Weekends
Activities and inspiration for planning the perfect hen do
By Jessica Bowler
From flamenco lessons and learning to cook the perfect paella, to gladiatorial-style inflatable games, here’s our list of ideas for great things to do on your Barcelona hen do… many with a local touch!
Looking for the perfect place to celebrate yours, or your best friend’s, hen weekend? Then you can stop the search right now.
With its gorgeous weather, long stretches of sandy beaches, world class shopping, luxury spas, scintillating nightlife and an abundance of tanned, toned, Mediterranean hunks, Barcelona has got all the ingredients of a perfect hen party abroad.
The city of Gaudi is not only good-looking, but it’s young, fashionable and knows how to enjoy the good things in life. In short, it’s a place that you and your amigas are sure to identify with.
The city of Gaudi is not only good-looking, but it’s young, fashionable and knows how to enjoy the good things in life.
A well-planned hen weekend in Barcelona might start with the checking in to a luxury hotel or apartment and quickly proceed to a bit of tanning on the sands (and don’t forget your Gucci sunglasses for ogling young Javier Bardem lookalikes as they work up a sweat playing beach volleyball).
When you’ve got your eye candy fix for the afternoon, you could retire to your hotel swimming pool or – if you’re lucky – rooftop jacuzzi, whilst the chance to go shopping on the grand Passeig de Gracia, with its marvels of Modernista architecture is not to be missed.
There are also plenty of trendy boutiques, or why not book your own personal shopper for the day to take you on a luxury shopping tour? Of course any self-respecting hen party needs some pampering action and a couple of hours at one of Barcelona’s health spas is time well spent, especial if it includes a chakra stone, Thai or even chocolate massage.
Barcelona is much more than sun, soaking and shopping though. By night the Catalan capital is a hedonist’s nirvana. Amazing restaurants serving every kind of cuisine, hip cocktail bars rustling up divine liquid concoctions, and plenty of glamorous nightclubs for an evening of dancing, flirting and (mild?) misbehaving. If the latter sounds like you, then we can definitely recommend this VIP nightlife tour, which includes guestlist to Opium Mar!).
The best hen parties will stretch over a long weekend, meaning you can do it all again the next day, maybe factoring in a tour of some of the city’s rich cultural sights, or fun activities like Cava tasting, cocktail making classes, treasure hunts or even sailing trips.
We’ve listed a few original ideas for things to do below that might give you some inspiration. All of them are operated by our hand-selected local partners, so we’re confident you’ll love them. Follow the links for more info, or send us an email. You can expect to hear back within one working day.

After that your local chef will help you reach culinary nirvana in the kitchen. Available on demand, we normally run this as a lunchtime activity, and the price of €39 per person also includes several tapas as starters and plenty of homemade sangria. Let us know about any special food requirements for your group in advance and we can cater for them. Email us on email@example.com for more info or to reserve.

Nothing promotes a bit of group bonding like being stuck in a room together with only 60 minutes to escape! Take on the challenge of one of Barcelona’s escape games and you’ll find yourself frantically crunching numbers, searching for clues and triggering combination codes as you attempt to win your freedom. A good activity to fit in after the beach or before dinner, the scenarios are invariably fun and creative. Check out our article for some specific recommendations on places.
Recommended Night Activities
Here are some ideas for what to do at night during your hen do…
17. Flamenco & Tapas Evening (€35 p.p.)
Two great traditions in one night, during this fun evening you get to see a top flamenco show in one of Barcelona’s best known tablaos, before enjoying a spread of classic tapas dishes that the country is famous for, served up with a generous helping of homemade Spanish sangria. In other words, instead of going for a normal, boring restaurant meal, spend the same amount on this activity and get a fantastic flamenco show thrown into the deal! The show lasts about 30-40 minutes, which is about perfect for larger groups as no one will get fidgety. One of our most popular activities, email us on email@example.com to check availability.
18. Champagne Sunset Cruise (€65 p.p.)
Undoubtedly the most stylish boat party option in Barcelona, this event takes place every Friday night from May to September. It features a Spanish buffet dinner (with paella), Champagne cocktails, live music and DJs, and of course those epic sunset views back over Barcelona. Once the catamaran sails back to port, you also get free nightclub entry afterwards to continue the party. A great excuse to get dressed up for the night. Exclusive offer: get in touch with us on firstname.lastname@example.org and, if you’re a group of 10 or more, we should be able to get you a free ticket for the bride to be!
19. Private Tapas Tour (€69 p.p.)
For an authentic taste of the city, this fun and informal food tour takes you to some of the best tapas and pintxos bars in town. Your local guide will help you learn your anchoas from your zamburiñas as you sample some of Barcelona’s finest snacks, along with delicious wines, vermouths and Cava to wash them down with. A great option for a more gastronomically minded group, keen to sample this uniquely Spanish way of eating and drinking, the tour is run by the boutique tour company Tapas & Beers and takes place in two of the city’s hippest districts. Get in contact with email@example.com for more, or head to their website.
20. Chill Out at Ice Barcelona (€32.5 p.p.)
The world’s only Ice Bar on a beach, a trip to this venue’s sub zero ice chamber is a fun way to cool off in Barcelona by night. Drink vodka from a glass made out of ice, and admire the frosty statues on display. Don’t worry about getting cold though as they provide jacket and gloves, and you can also head onto their balmy beach terrace for a cocktail instead. Currently they are offering a special hen party pack designed for ten people which includes 10 x Ice Barcelona experience with drink, 10 x mixed drink, plus table reservation, 2 bottles of Cava, fresh fruit and chocolate and gift for the bachelorette herself. Total cost €325. Head to their website for more info and a few other options.
21. Cheeky Butler & Tapas (€45 p.p.)
What’s better than Spanish cuisine? Spanish cuisine prepared by a local chef and served up by Gael García Bernal’s buffer little brother (…at least he told us they’re related). That’s right, your delicious tapas meal will be dished up by quite a dish himself, and it’s hard to say which is yummier. This activity takes place in your apartment, and as well as the chef and cheeky butler, included in the package (so to speak) are some party games and free Cava for all. Alternatively, for just a handful more euros, switch the butler for a stripper. Get in contact via firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get things organised for you.
22. VIP Nightlife Tour (€44.95 p.p.)
As highlighted earlier on this page, this nightlife tour comes with the Barcelona Life seal of approval and combines drinking Cava with night time views over the city with partying until dawn at the most famous address in town… Opium Beach Club. For a more exclusive party vibe why not splash out on your private limousine to take you cruising around the city like the international jet-setting divas that you are. The tour includes VIP club cards (see below) that get you entry into 14 of the hottest nightclubs in the city, whilst Champagne, spirits and soda are all included in the price. Check the link for more info, or simply email us on firstname.lastname@example.org with your group size and preferred dates.
24. VIP Club Cards (€27 p.p.)
For no-nonsense introduction to Barcelona’s nightlife, these VIP Club Cards are hard to beat. For just €27 you get access to 14 of the city’s hottest venues, with free VIP entry into each, to save you the hassle and worry of whether you’re going to all be able to get in to the club. The cards are especially worthwhile if you plan on partying in the Port Olimpic zone, as top nightspots like Opium, Pacha, CDLC, Shoko and Catwalk are all next to each other, so you can hop between them and find the right one for you. And if one night ain’t enough you can also buy cards that work for 2 nights (€40) and 3 nights (€50). The guys behind the cards have recently given Barcelona Life readers a 15% discount on the price, so get in touch via email@example.com with your requirements.
