Camp Nou Stadium

Field of footballing dreams

Camp Nou is Barcelona’s UEFA five-star rated stadium and the playing field for the mighty Barcelona Football Club.

The Catalan wizards are the best reason to pay the ‘New Field’ a visit, and locals treat a match almost as a cultural experience. The atmosphere at a game is known for its theatre-like reverence, so don’t expect lots of raucous cheering. The only time they get really animated is when the referee gives a decision they don’t like… in which case the stadium fills with derisive whistles. Otherwise it’s all about understated admiration for the magic weaved by Messi and friends.

Seating capacity is just over 99,000, making it the largest stadium in Europe. Whilst plans for an additional 6,000 or so seats are on and off, depending on the financial climate.

Getting to the Camp Nou stadium is easy – take the L3 green metro line in the direction of Zona Universitaria and get off at Maria Cristina, where you’ll be able to follow the crowds. Click ‘show on a map’ on the right if you want to check the stadium’s exact location.

If you can’t get tickets to see Barça in action, then you can still sign up for the highly rated Camp Nou Experience, which is a stadium tour and a visit to the FC Barcelona Museum in one. A self-guided activity, you get to visit the away team changing rooms, the players’ tunnel, the commentary box and the stands, before heading to the museum where you can see the trophy room, the multimedia zone and the Messi Area.

The tour takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, and is a must for football fans. You can book skip the line tickets via the official tourism site, or Get Your Guide. Check the right of this page.
