The largest crowd to watch a football (or 'soccer') game in the US, since the 1994 World Cup, turned out to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena California to watch LA Galaxy play Barcelona FC in a pre-season friendly yesterday. The Spanish Tri-Champions were given a stern test by the Americans, and the 93,000 attendees had to wait until the 67th minute to watch Barcelona settle the game with a goal from Jeffren Suarez. At the end of the first half the most famous face in football, David Beckham, managed to claw the Galaxy back from a 1-0 deficit by striking a sensational free kick (watch it here) from outside the box to make the scores 1-1. The goal was an important one for Beckham personally in his fight to win back his fans' affections after his extended loan for AC Milan left many questioning his commitment. Back in the Barca camp and the team are preparing an improved contract for Lionel Messi in an attempt to secure his future at the club. Apart from raising his salary to higher than that of newcomer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the club are also keen to raise his buy out clause from 150 million to 300 million euros. A warning to Real Madrid, or Man City?
