Gay Kissing Protest to Greet Pope
Gay activists are planning a two-minute 'flashmob' kissing protest to coincide with the Pope's visit to Barcelona on the 7th November when he will consecrate Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia Cathedral.
The protest is designed to vent frustration of Barcelona's gay community at the continuing anti-homosexual stance of the Roman Catholic church: "We are hoping for a crowd of people of the same sex who will kiss each other for two minutes in front of the pope," said one of the organizers, Marylene Carole. "The reason is to show our unhappiness with an institution which for a long time has been against the sexual and emotional rights of many people who do not practice exclusively reproductive sex or people who do not love each other in the way that the institution thinks is right."
The organisers are expecting 300 or more people to attend the flashmob protest.
