Ibrahimovic in, Eto'o out...
It's a frustrating time of year for football fans - and that's everyone in this city - when games are few and far between, and endless transfer talk and speculation is rife. What's been particularly frustrating this year for Barca fans is what action has happened, has all taken place 500km away in the capital. Bitter rivals Real Madrid have been throwing wads of cash around like an over-enthusiatic child who's been given the confetti at a wedding... they've spent over 200 million euros snapping up Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema and Albiol!
Finally however Pep Guardiola seems to have got his chequebook out for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after agreeing to pay Inter 45 million euros for the highly-rated 27-yr-old striker. Silly money, but the top names are coming at highly inflated prices this year it seems! Meanwhile Pep is controversially letting Samuel Eto'o go the other way, after a season where he bagged a whopping 36 goals in 52 appearances including a crucial opener in the Champions League final vs. Manchester United.
"I am convinced that the best thing for Barca is for Eto'o to leave," he said. "Could I be mistaken? Maybe so. But I am here to make these decisions."
There are still some 't's to be crossed and 'i's to be dotted but both deals look certain to be finalized in the next couple of days.
