Apple to Open in Barcelona

Technology giants and inventors of the all-conquering iThingies (Pods, Pads and Phones!), Apple, are eyeing up the Spanish market as a potentially lucrative one for their addictively-handy devices.

Rumours are that Apple are willing to offer a cool 50 million euros for Banco Sabadell's property on Passeig de Gracia, Barcelona's upmarket, Gaudi-bedecked thoroughfare that extends upwards of Las Ramblas.

Whereas techies all over Catalonia are no doubt salivating at the prospect of browsing the IT wizards' latest products instore, the purchase is far from a done deal. Isac Andika, owner of the Catalan Mango fashion group, would like to open a second outlet on the Passeig de Gracia - a strategy currently in favour by many clothing companies who see the benefit of doubling up on the major commercial streets (not least because it also puts a block on their rivals!). Mr. Andika isn't short of a cent or two, and Banco Sabadell will be delighted if this one turns into a bidding war!
