Barcelona Thrash Real Madrid in Final

With a title like that you might expect soccer fans to get excited, but in fact the sport in question last weekend was all about handiwork and not footwork... Regal Barcelona took on Real Madrid in the final of the basketball Copa del Rey, winning the contest by a definitive 19 point margin. The final score Regal Barcelona 80, Real Madrid 61.

Often eclipsed by their footballing counterparts Regal Barcelona (who are part of the same sporting set up - and similarly play in claret and blue) are on a run of form that even Xavi and the wonderkids could be proud of. Regal have won all of the last four competitions they have taken part in, including the ACB league, Catalan league, ACB Super Cup and now the Copa del Rey - or King's Cup.

Sundays result showed the team's ability once more, with a second quarter performance of 20 points to 9 that seriously damaged Madrid's chances of ever getting back in the game. Vasquez was points leader on the night with 14, although all of Barcelona's 12 players scored at least one point in a rare feat of all-round teamwork.
