Another Record Year for Spanish Tourism
January is a great time to book your holidays for the year, and it looks like Spain will be one of the top choices for Brits in 2016.
All signs point to a strong year for travel, with U.K. residents especially set on traveling more and longer than they did last year. And where are they headed? Sunny Espaņa!
One study shows that an entire third of online destination searches are about Spain. Two other studies have determined that Brits' holiday bookings for Spanish destinations are already ahead of 2015 - and we're only just starting the year.
In general, Spain is having a successful spell when it comes to tourism. It's broken its tourism records for the third year in a row, with 2015 seeing a nearly 5% increase in visitors over 2014.
Why are so many travellers flocking to Spain? With security issues in other Mediterranean beach countries (such as Egypt and Tunisia) and European cities (Paris), Spain provides a comfortable alternative.
On top of that, it's just a quick flight away the U.K., and the pound is strong against the euro.
With all that in mind, it's no surprise that Spain is looking to see another hot year for visitors.
