Policeman Jailed For Tow Truck Revenge
A Barcelona policeman has been sentenced to 18 months in jail, and handed a €400 fine, for falsely indicting four tow trucks for running red lights in retaliation for his own private car being towed.
The court found the man, an officer in the city's Guardia Urbana, guilty of issuing four tickets to municipal tow trucks for jumping red lights between October 2010 and February 2011 for offences which he himself fabricated. In one case, the vehicle in question had not even left the depot at the time of the alleged infraction. The officer was also found guilty of falsifying official documents to support his false claims.
Apart from his angst at having his own car towed, depression and relationship problems are said to have contributed to his "confused manner".
