La Laia - The Feast Days of Saint Eulalia

11/2/2011 - 13/2/2011

Eulalia is one of two patron saints of Barcelona and, if the legends are to be believed she certainly deserves her matyrdom. The poor teenager was rolled in a barrel of knives down a hill for refusing to recant her Christianity. Her feast day is the 12th of February and for three days a children's festival will be held celebrated with gegants (giants), castellers (human castles), sardanes, (Catalan dance), correfoc (fire-running - hopefully without children's participation!) and live theatre, workshops, stories and puppet shows. The action centres around Placa Sant Jaume.
