One of Barcelona's most charming occasions, Sant Jordi's Day is a celebration of the dragon-slaying patron saint of Catalonia. On the 23rd April the entire length of La Rambla will erupt with flower stalls, and tradition states that menfolk should purchase pretty petals for all the dainty damsels in their life. Whilst said damsels are encouraged to pick out some character-building reading material for the special men in their lives. After all, Spain's legendary scribe, Miguel Cervantes died on this very day. (As did Shakespeare!).
