Cubism and War: The Crystal in the Flame

21/10/2016 - 26/1/2017

January is the final month of an exhibition in the Picasso Museum that focusses on the work of artists who formed part of the Cubism movement in Paris from 1911 to 1914. At the time, most young men in France were sent to fight in the war, so any artists in the city were either considered unfit to fight or were from another country. This exhibition includes work from Picasso, naturally, as well as pieces from Diego Rivera, Gino Severini, Maria Blanchard, Henri Matisse and more. There are also pieces from two artists who did go and fight in the war - Georges Braque and Fernand Leger.
