The Vagina Monologues

18/2/2013 - 20/2/2013

As part of the global VDay movement - demanding an end to violence and sexual violence towards women - a special one-off edition of the Vagina Monologues play will be performed over three nights in Barcelona. The critically acclaimed, and sometimes controversial, work of art is a series of stories about femininity and female sexuality, each told by a different protagonist. They range from humorous discourses about the traumas of visiting the gynaecologist to genuinely harrowing stories about rape camps during the Balkans war. A sensation ever since they were first performed in 1996 Eva Ensler's play was described by Variety as "Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving.. it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction." Proceeds will go to La Asociación Asistencia Mujeres (AADAS) agredidas sexualmente. Tickets 12 euros before Feb 1st, 15 euros after. Show starts at 8pm each night.
