The Three Kings Parade

5/1/2013

Here in sunny Spain, Christmas gifts are not distributed by Santa Claus on the 25th December but by the Three Kings on the 6th of January, in the religious festival known as Epiphany. The day before, the 5th Jan, is marked by a huge parade in Barcelona, as the three wise men arrive by boat at Barcelona harbour (normally around 4pm) and then embark on a procession through the whole city ending up at Montjuic mountain around 9pm. Expect floats, horses, camels, musicians, much pomp and ceremony, whilst members of the procession dish out free sweeties to excited kiddies. This is the real Christmas in Catalonia, so don't miss it!
