Raco de la Vila

|
Blissfully off the beaten track, Racó de la Vila is an as-yet-undiscovered local secret which will delight all who make the pilgrimmage to Poblenou for supper. Lodged in a splendid 19th Century tenement house, the restaurant comprises a number of rooms, including an impressive main salon decorated with a mix of Modernista ironwork and lamps, and charming rustic touches: such as the antique corn grinder suspended on the side wall and the beautifully-restored arched doors of a 17th Century Pyrenean church. The menu consists of traditional Spanish and Catalan cuisine and amongst the many highlights are the fresh seafood (displayed on ice in the entry), rice dishes and stone-grilled meats. Large groups might want to retire to the upstairs chamber where knights joust over the fireplace, or for private functions why not head down to the intimate wine cellar, where you can enjoy your meal amongst Racó de la Vila's collection of 400 Spanish and international wines? The restaurant is open every day of the year and you can arrive easily by Barcelona's metro (Llacuna), or by car (valet parking). |
