Cafe de l'Opera website

Normally we'd recommend avoiding eating or drinking at places located on La Rambla, but we'll make an exception for Cafe de l'Opera. This historic little café is directly across from the Liceu Theatre and it's a lovely place to enjoy a drink and some Catalan Art Nouveau. It opened in the 18th century as a tavern, but in the 19th century was converted into a chocolateria before getting a Modernista makeover in the 1920s. Today, they serve a selection of sandwiches, tapas, sweets and hot drinks.
