In Poblenou slang 'boo' is a term for a meeting place where locals go to escape their worries; and in 2011 the district got its first boo on the beach. Opened by a consortium of creative minds (including the renowned actor Santi Millan), El Boo is a restaurant and beach club spectacularly situated in a white-washed building on the pier between Mar Bella and Nova Bella beaches. With its outdoor terraces, light, airy interiors and seaside vistas El Boo feels like a VIP version of Spain's traditional chiringuitos, and certainly the menu is a match for Barcelona's finest. Award-winning chef Francisco Palomares "Curro" has created an avant garde menu that includes the likes of lobster carpaccio with honey-soy vinaigrette and duck magret with strawberries, whilst on the lounge deck punters can select fresh oysters, clams, prawns, sea urchins, sardines, dorado, turbot and Blue Fin tuna on ice from two boat-shaped stalls and have them cooked in front of their noses. Meanwhile those looking for a more affordable bite to eat can head up to the rooftop cocktail bar where you can order grilled snacks in the Japanese Teppanyaki style along with a daiquiri or three. Food is served daily 10am to 1am during summer (May to Sept); check the website for their winter timetable.
Wonderful restaurant with hardly any tourists. Which surprised me because of the setting on the beach. Top class seafood and also better than average service

delicious cuisine in a magical setting... I've been twice. Once when it was sunny and beautiful, the other time stormy and dramatic. You feel like you are dining in a film setting. Service is superb
