Sugar Bar

Sequestered in one of the Gothic Quarter's typically dark and narrow alleys, Sugar Bar has the vibe of a hip hard-to-find drinking den, even though it's no more than 20 seconds away from Placa Reial! A mix of tourists, ex-pats and locals cram into the tiny red interior on a nightly basis, either squishing together in a booth (such as the crimson-cushioned one in the window), or perching on bar stools, whilst the friendly bar staff dish out mojitos that don't cost a mint. Good tune selections, happy hour until 11pm (or all night on Tuesdays!) and great mingling opportunities make Sugar a sweet spot for starting the night.

It was really good and I would definitely go back there! But I agree - it is pretty small, so go early!

Have to say most generous bar staff in terms of mojito ingredients!! Simply delicious and ridiculously cheap. Welcoming and cozy atmosphere, interesting mix of people, though not enough locals, but hey - we're in the heart of Europe in the end. 100% worth stopping by.

One of the best bars in Barcelona! I love Sugar. It's small but it's got plenty of personality and there's always a good mix of crazy drunken tourists and a few locals. Bar staff are friendly, music is good, drinks are cheap... what more can you ask for?
