Unusually for Barcelona, the much-loved La Cigale bar in Gracia is set over two floors. The first is reminiscent of a Parisien cafe thanks to its cute round tables, lively atmosphere and curious decoration - such as vintage toy cars, religious icons and TV screening French animations. The upstairs is more spacious and filled with a delightfully shambolic mix of heaving bookshelves, antique portraits, kitsch art, mis-matched furniture and sewing machines, whilst you half expect to find Catalan nationalist planning a revolution in the shadows of the private alcove by the stairs. La Cigale doesn't trade on its charisma alone however. Burgers the size of a football are among the great offerings on the food menu, whilst fresh fruit Daiquiris, bottled artesan beers and a regular fixture of concerts, exhibitions and events keep the punters coming back.
fantastic find thats miles away from touristville without a retarded stag party or hen party in sight! if you want a real Barcelona bar without the idiots head this way.

La Cigale is a great bar that you might miss on first glance as you walk down the street. But believe me, itís worth stopping by and taking a peak inside. Youíll be pleased to find an exciting ambiance with great music and a great second floor. Upstairs is a fantastic hideaway to converse with your friends and even make new ones. I left after getting to know the friendly owner, and couldnít help but think of the next time i would be coming back!
